our story
The Body Lab launched in Arcadia, Arizona in 2010, when founding partner Jenny Cushing was inspired to bring the innovative and elite Lagree Fitness method to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. As demand for this exclusive, high-intensity, low-impact workout grew, Jenny and partner Paul Green expanded The Body Lab into North Scottsdale. By 2014, introduced the Kansas City metro to its very first Lagree studio with a third location in Leawood, Kansas, led by Mike and Jena Green.
In 2019, Prairie Village, KS became home to the fourth studio. Even through the challenges of the 2020 pandemic, The Body Lab continued to thrive, thanks to its unwavering commitment to excellence and the most highly trained, Lagree-certified instructors in the industry. The Body Lab remains a destination for those seeking the gold standard in boutique fitness, with more studios to come in and around the Kansas City metro and beyond.

Mike & jena
Mike and Jena have been married for over 28 years and have always made fitness a part of their lives. Mike spent more than a decade in the fitness industry, managing and consulting for fitness centers in California and Utah. After relocating to Kansas City in 1998, he transitioned from managing Bally Total Fitness to working as a business broker. Seeking new entrepreneurial opportunities, Mike and Jena decided to open their first Lagree Fitness studio in Leawood in 2014.
Jena, who holds certifications through AFAA and NASM, became interested in long-distance running while training for a sprint triathlon in her late 30s. After experiencing injuries, she began searching for a lower-impact alternative and discovered the Lagree Fitness method. After taking just two classes in Arizona, she knew she wanted to bring Lagree to Kansas City.
In 2019, Jena and Mike opened their second location in Prairie Village, with their third location in Lenexa opening in April 2026. Additional locations in Wichita and the KC Northland are planned to follow soon after.
